Bring the Runway Into Your Home!
Why spend thousands on couture when you can bring the latest styles on the catwalk into your home for a fraction of the price?
We asked this question when we first saw the new arrivals at BoConcept - items that are bursting with color for Spring! As devout fashion enthusiasts, we noted similar color and trends between the S/S 2010 runway and our new collection of dynamic accessories. Here are some of our staff picks compared with some our favorites from the runway:

Dries van Noten has set us on a journey to take us to Southeast Asia for his S/S 2010 collection. Silks and saris are glistening with the colors of the sun, from deep oranges and reds to “joyful” yellows, a term the designer has used in numerous interviews to describe his Spring look. BoConcept has also harnessed the colors and patterns of nature to add a little sunlight into your home. Our honey comb jar is suitable for a touch of warmth to tables with our candle sticks holders as a match for the mantle. (The candle holder looks so much like the chunky bracelets seen in this collection!) The ikat throw looks like a suitable shawl for the DVN runway: velveteen emeralds, blacks, and ochers are woven into the body that makes this piece both very soft and breathable.

Chris Benz brings us bright, brights(!) for this S/S 2010 line. We at BoConcept simply adore the color used in the tulle skirt and are excited to see the same cyans and citrines in our new vases and cushions. The glass jar/vase has a thick outer glass layer that is excellent for catching light like the glimmer of Benz’s parachute dress in ocher (right). Our favorites are the vase (Swiss valleys much?) and the spectacular beaded pillow that comes in both cyan and yellow. The entire front is covered in a foray of glass micro beads with an organic silk-like back, an eye catching piece for any living room.

Benz’s sequin taffeta dress is undeniably the highlight of his S/S collection. It reminds me of the layers on a cake, not too much unlike the theme of our new BC cushion (right). Colored threads are interwoven between jagged layers of patterned dissonance, paralleled by a flocking of cohesive hues. Our cushions are designed for versatility - the perfect size to double as head, arm, or neck rest. The textile vase borrows from this S/S theme of earth tones and mimics a hand-woven basket molded on its intricate surface. Its large size makes the vase perfect as a table centerpiece. Last we have the glass teardrop sculpture that looks like a Benz’s palette of gouache on a rippling water surface - a very commented item in our showroom. Whip out those pastel dresses to match these amazing colors!

Proenza Schouler brings back the cobalt blues, black, and purples for S/S 2010 with a sultry pulse for airy, silky dresses. Shimmering fabrics are a hot trend this season, and we simply adore the little midnight blue cocktail dress shown at the left. Contrast his intricate use of bows and draping with BoConcept’s refined accessories. The sea blue glass orbs are perfect for votives and look wonderful in groupings on tabletops in conjunction with the dusted glass vase. One of the softest pillows (yes, I said softest!) to arrive this season is shown in purple felt. It’s a petite pop of color for a variety rooms. Other colors include cyan, brown, cobalt blue, green, magenta, gray, and black:

Givenchy brings us back to a très chic unconventional look with their amazing “midnight” spring line. April showers bring May flowers, and it looks like the rain wet-look leggings are still going strong for Spring. The organic pleating of the dress resembles the wooden spiral fern sculpture that has the illusion of endless growth. Tiered empire dresses look adorable constructed with Givenchy’s ever-present penchant for amazing patterns. We can only dream of how amazing these outfits would look beneath the angular floor lamp with marble base! The lampshade resembles the the black fitted mini skirts in their line that give a well-lit, modern nod towards minimalism.

Lastly, we close with Missoni Resort 2010 a theme that brings us back to home: earth tones and wood. Missoni resort embodies the essence of the tropical beaches with their light knitted pieces in an array of neutrals, and would look perfect in for any occasion. Similar to the versatility of these outfits, our wooden sculptures have limitless potential for your homes or offices. One of our favorites is the wooden knot sculpture that has a silken wax feel to the touch, a reminder of our enchanting evergreens native to the PCNW. The textile of the zigzag pillow is a quintessential pattern to Missoni, immediately reminding me of the line. It’s a great way to add some personality to a couch, and not to mention, it’s very soft canvas.

BoConcept goes haute couture!

In November, BoConcept Brand Store in Prague was contacted directly by owner of a multi-brand store, who sells unique designer brands such as Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, dsquared2 and Roberto Cavalli.
The owner spotted BoConcept products in various interior magazines and was amazed by its elegant design and functionality and asked BoConcept interior decorators, if they were able to create an interior design for window displays of the Valentino showroom, which is located in an exclusive a beautiful historical area of Parizska street in the centre of Prague.
The brief from the owner of the Valentino store was clear. BoConcept Interior Decorators Martina Kropikova, Jan Maca and Ales Rejman had to choose the pieces of BoConcept furniture and/or accessories, which would fit into the tight window display, to the type of Valentino clothing and to the minimalist interior of the Valentino store. The chosen products should have been expressive and cool in design, yet in harmony with distinctive Valentino fashion style. The interior designers also had to deal with the fact that the BoConcept furniture and accessories would be used for displaying the clothing itself. The owner also wanted an armchair and a lamp.
Martina, Jan and Ales had to choose Aero chair from the 2009 collection in the end. The reason for this was a simple fact, that it was the only chair with a sharp look that fit into the tight space of the window display. The look was completed with a Salon Floor lamp in black color.
Second choice was a white-lacquered Amari divider, which perfectly fits both into the window display and into the showroom and its multi-functionality was ideal for arranging wonderful Valentino accessories. The simple yet sophisticated look of BoConcept furniture made a beautiful contrast to the exclusive Valentino apparel. There was also a special tag given to all furniture used for decorating , so that everyone could know that it was from BoConcept.
The cooperation with the owner of the store was successful, the lady was very happy with the result and asked our interior decorating team to re-decorate her Moschino store, which is just accross the street!
